The Money Syndrome

Today I was watching this documentary about all these poor kids whose mothers were drug users, and I was like, "How can they actually live like that?!" There was this one boy whose mother was so into drugs and alcohol, she gave birth to him DRUNK! He got some brain damage and has a really violent side to him that he once got arrested at seven years! Can you imagine? The documentary also showed these schoolkids from Baltimore who grew up in the midst of criminals and drug dealers, and who have siblings and family members dead so most of them have to live with foster families.

All this made me think: Why do people want to hurt other people? I mean, I get that when you're angry, you want to take it out, but honestly, how does that help you? And why don't people who have the money and the ability to make the world a tad better place for us to live in do so? I know some rich people give a lot of money to charity, but most people now are just plain greedy. I know I sound cheesy and idiotic, but honestly, why do we all moan that the world is such an awful place when we don't stop to ask all these simple questions?

What is it about money? Why do some people waste their whole lives running after it only to find that when they've finally got it, they can't enjoy it? Why are we so obsessed by it? It's like money has become widely known as the magical spark that can fix anything. I'm sorry to say, not everything is fixable by money.

Someday we'll all be standing in front of God, and on that day He won't ask us how much money we had, He'll ask us how we spent it. He won't ask us what kind of expensive dishes we had on our table, He'll ask us if we gave a poor person a dish for their table. Money can good if used wisely, but it's not good when we all crave obsessively for it!

What do you think?
