What is it about some books? Why do they have the ability to envelope us in a magical world which is not our own? Some books you read, you go, "No, thank you!" Some you read, you go, "Hmm...that's good." But some you read and you just CAN'T stop thinking about!
Take the Twilight saga for example. I've already read all four books, but even when I'm re-reading one of them, I still feel kind of obsessed. I keep thinking about what I've just read. I keep wanting to go and read more. With Harry Potter too. I'm telling you, it's surreal, especially since I don't even like fantasy, these two series excluded. I mean, I tried reading Eragon once (did not pick it out. My dad got it for me and assumed I would like it. Will have to set him straight about that) and I just got bored. No offense, Christopher Paolini, I'm sure it's a great book and all (I mean I wasn't really that bored. I just couldn't be bothered to finish it that much) but there were so many words I didn't understand. I mean, at least with Harry Potter all those magical terms are English, in a way. But have you ever tried reading Eragon? There are all these weird words in a language that I don't even know whether it's real or made up.
Anyway, so I've just finished re-reading Eclipse, which, naturally, has got me thinking about Breaking Dawn. I LOVE Breaking Dawn. Not so fussed over that part in the middle, though, where Jacob keeps whining about his poor heartbroken heart. I'm not being cruel, I would be the same if I went through the same thing, but the guy sure doesn't know how to take no for an answer. Plus, do we have to read about it? Can't he just silently cry in the background? I guess it was too much guilt for Stephenie Meyer's conscience to handle, so she put him right there in the middle. The last part of Breaking Dawn is AMAZING. Seriously. I don't want to spoil it for you in case you haven't read it (in which case: WHY?! Do you not have a brain?! Are you insane?! Go get, buy or borrow it! NOW!), but it's the absolute best part in the whole Twilight books. Which is saying a lot.
