I've just read some very inspiring articles (which you can see here) and they made me reconsider things. We often want to do things very badly, and holding ourselves back is very hard. But take it from someone who's tried, I once resisted doing something that wasn't exactly what you'd call corresponding with God's will and in the end it turned out for the best. I won't tell you what happened, but I was thanking God that I hadn't done what I'd wanted to do.
Life is short, but it isn't what's important. It's what you do in it that counts, especially on Judgement Day. Think of yourself, how would you feel if you knew you were to go to hell? Then think of how you would feel if you knew you would go to heaven? Try to sense how you'd feel, and then think, "Which is better? Which is worth doing whatever you can to achieve?" and be honest with yourself. Yes, maybe you want to live a certain life, but trust me, when you live the Islamic life truly, you'll find much more happiness.
I won't say I'm perfect, or that I do everything the way I should. Far, far, far, far from it. But the few things I do right make me feel truly happy. So why shouldn't we all do things that way? The right Islamic way? Wouldn't it just make the whole world a better place?
For those who say, "I can't change the world," just start with yourselves. And take it from there.
Thanks a lot to www.expression-of-the-mind.blogspot.com for being a huge inspiration. =]
